The other weekend, I flew out to Vegas to visit my hubby, since he was out there working. I have been there once before with him, and you can read that review HERE. My dad flies for the airlines, and I learned early on to dress appropriately and nice, especially if I am flying with a pass or visiting an airport lounge. This time, my outfit was casual, yet chic. You can’t go wrong with a classic white blouse and comfy, stylish flats.
Even though, we have been there before, we did completely different things. I love that about Vegas! You can go each time, and do or eat something different.
I flew in late Thursday night and met my husband at his hotel, The Westin. Last time, we stayed at The Bellagio, and while it is fancy, I found I loved The Westin more. It was smaller, still on the strip, and their service was lovely. They also had a hotel bar and restaurant, a small store, Starbucks, and a car rental service. The food at the restaurant was great! We loved the club sandwich and their buffet breakfast was way better than The Bellagio.
The hubby worked some on Friday, so I went off to The Forum Shops at Caesars to do some shopping. Most of the stores were higher end, think Chanel and Louis Vuitton with a few shops in my price range, like Gap and Victoria Secret. I went into Victoria’s Secret and their customer service was top notch.
After shopping, I went back to our room and did some reading, check back later for a book review, and then got ready for Dinner. The hotel is really close to The Linq, and I highly suggest going there for a different view of Vegas. The street is cobblestone, no cars, and lots of restaurants, and yummy dessert places. My hubby ate at Jaburritos and had this crazy Burrito Sushi. He sent me a picture and my mouth dropped at seeing it! It looked and he said it tasted soooooo good!
We ate the Flour and Barley | Brick Oven Pizza twice during our time and if you are in the mood for pizza, then they have some great Brick Oven Style Pizza. I also got a couple of Sangria’s and they were delicious!
After dinner, we went out with a bunch of friends to Tao night club, and did bottle service. It has been a very looonnngg while since I have been in the club, but Tao was great and the DJ could really mix beats!! If you have a bunch friends, then bottle service is a great way to enjoy the night club. We had our own area sectioned off by the DJ, with a personal waitress, busser, and security staff. This also allowed us to dance without people on top of us, sit and enjoy the evening, and personal service.
Dancing the night away was fun and made me remember that coming in at the wee hours in the morning, is harder at 31 then 21 (HaHa!). My hubby had to work on Saturday, which was perfect because I got to be lazy, read my books, and watch TV. The perfect, easy day!
One of the things, I wanted to do in Vegas was hiking. Most people, probably wouldn’t think to go hiking in Vegas, but off the strip there is the Red Rock Canyon National Park and the hiking is awesome! They have several 3-5 mile trails that vary in levels. We hiked Turtlehead Peak, which is a 5 mile hike and a 2000 increase in elevation. The hike takes a couple of hours, but the panoramic view is gorgeous! I would suggest wearing layers, because as you get closer to the top, the wind and elevation make it quite chilly.
We finished our evening with another stop at Flour and Barley Brick oven Pizza and dessert at the Ghirardelli Ice Cream & Chocolate Shop. We picked up some of their yummy dark chocolate and a warm cookie.
I flew out early Monday morning and was super excited to get back and see our kiddos!
