Viva Las Vegas!

A few weeks ago, my hubby surprised me with a trip to Las Vegas to celebrate my birthday and graduation for doctorate. Can I get Amen that I am done with school!

I have never been to Vegas and although my husband has gone for work, he didn’t get to explore the strip.  We stayed at the Bellagio, which was pretty central to everything.  You will need to get a taxi, uber etc. from the airport to the strip because even though it’s close, it’s not within walking.  I will say, bring walking shoes because you will do a LOT of walking.

We spent most of our time walking, eating, and sleeping! We definitely took an afternoon nap just because we could! We have 3 kids under the age of 6, so we took full advantage of sleeping in and napping.  We upgraded our room upon check in, and had a beautiful view of the mountains/city lights.  The room came with two plush robes and I was in heaven! I am on a hunt for a super comfy robe, so please let me know if you know of one!

One of the must sees for Vegas are the Bellagio fountains.  It’s free and they go off about every 15 minutes.  We didn’t check out any other hotels, but I will say The Bellagio has everything so you wouldn’t need to leave, if you didn’t want too! Starbucks included for my Starbucks lovers 🙂

The drinks at The Bellagio are on the pricey side with a frozen drink at the pool around $18.  However, most people would visit the CVS on the corner and get less expensive alcohol.  You will see everyone walking around with a drink in hand!

There are a ton of restaurants on the strip and they are less than 2 miles away.  It’s a win since you can see the strip, while walking and then eat a great meal.  Food can get expensive, especially in the hotel.  We usually ate breakfast at the hotel and then ventured off for lunch and dinner.  The Cafe Bellagio has a wide variety of baked goods, gelato, and lite food items for breakfast/lunch.

For a quick bite to eat, we ate at Giordano’s, which is very close to the Bellagio.  They are known for their Chicago style deep dish, but the hubby likes thin crust, so we tried that and it was delicious!

However, by far our favorite meal probably ever, was at Echo & Rig located in Tivoli Village.  I started writing and realized it deserved its own post! Tune in Friday, for a recap of our experience!

As far as entertainment, everyone always talks about seeing a show when you come to Vegas.  While, we didn’t see a show, we did see The Who perform at Caesar’s Palace and they were amazing!!!

We had an amazing time and loved exploring a new city!!
