Back to School

School ended and summer began with 85 days of having all three kiddos home! As quickly as school ended, I feel like summer has flown by and now school is starting.  This year, we have a 1st grader and a preschooler with the littlest one going to a Mom’s Day Out program 2x a week.  Our kiddos were so excited about starting school that come Sunday morning they were dressed and ready for their first day at 7:15 AM!!

We have a couple of special things we do for the first day of school that I thought I would share.  The night prior, we get everything ready and set out our clothes.  Every year, I get the teachers a little gift (Starbucks card, lotion, hand sanitizer, etc.) and include a handwritten note.

In the morning, I usually make something special, (cinnamon rolls, pancakes, scrambled eggs & bacon) this year they decided on cinnamon rolls.

After breakfast, we go outside to take a picture of them with their grade level sign.  I love these by Remodelaholic. It’s free and you just print them out. Easy!! We also take a picture of the back of their book bags.  I always love to see how they have grown throughout the year!

I always walk them in and be “that” mom and take a bunch of pictures πŸ™‚ Afterwards, this mom meets up with a friend for coffee or go to Target and walk around aimlessly with coffee πŸ™‚

After school, we head to a special place (frozen yogurt, Hawaiian shaved ice) for an afternoon treat! Since we have a 1st grader, I expect a lot of homework and created our homework basket full of items they made (crayons, glue, markers, pencils, and scissors).  The basket and cups was found at The Dollar Tree!

I hope everyone has a wonderful start to the new school year!
